Food, Not Drugs
There are a great many things I want to eventually say on this topic. There is so much to say, that it is hard to know where to start. However, I recently wrote a couple of articles for another CF website and that is a good place to start for anyone who wants a really brief overview of my "history" in this regard:
My Breastfeeding Story My Nutrition Story
Elsewhere, I have written about doing 16 months of chelation by eating lunch at a restaurant almost every day where the food was heavily laced with cilantro. Although I really cannot in good conscience recommend that anyone try to use cilantro as a chelator (because there is no known protocol, among other problems), I present it here as another example of the intricate relationship between food and healing for me over the years. Here are some of my more comprehensive remarks on that experience:
Re: Has anyone used Chlorella or Cilantro? NO Cilantro (A cautionary tale) NO Cilantro ("part 2") NO Cilantro ("part 3")
I continue to use food as a means to heal. A recent example of a problem caused by diet (and largely cured by dietary changes) appears in the blog, where I talk about having problems from taking sandwiches to work with me for a couple of weeks. Eating that much bread was bad for me.
Yeast and Gum Inflammation Clearing up the gum inflammation More thoughts on yeast
For now, the last note I will toss out is that I have recently had good success with going to Outback's and ordering a Bloomin' Onion when my sinuses are bothering me. It's better than drugs. Really.
I have decided to add a list of foods to this page and what I know about their medicinal uses. Hopefully, it will be a good use
for a previously low content page.
Watermelon
Excellent kidney support. A densely nutritious food. Good for treating dehydration.
