Foods List
These are some of the foods I eat. As much as possible, I am including links to pictures of the items so you will recognize it when you get to the
grocery store. Or, alternately, links to websites where you can buy this stuff.
Not all things labeled sea salt have the same mix of vital minerals. This is the brand I use. It's probably not the only brand that will work.
It is the only brand I know of that works for me.
Most crackers either have so much sugar they should be called "cookies" or they are so tasteless and unnutritious you might be better off eating
the cardboard box they come in. I actually like these and they don't leave me sick. So I'm happy.
Good Chocolates
Chocolate gets a bad rap. It's actually full of antioxidants and magnesium and other good stuff. It's the other crap that's usually in it
that's so bad for you. My sons and I prefer chocolates that are 60% cocoa. One or two squares of a good chocolate can have a very positive
effect on us. Some we like:
This doesn't tear up my stomach the way so many cheeses do. I still have to eat it in moderation but it doesn't make me wonder
if I should just give up cheese entirely.
We have tried other frozen fruit treats and they just didn't compare. We currently keep Strawberry, Creamy Coconut, and Tangerine in the house.
For a long time, we only bought Strawberry and the occasional Variety Pack.
I can't find a good photo of this exact product. I bought it recently to add to tomato soup. More recently, I
have been adding it to cheese quesadillas (made with Kraft LiveActive cheese and fried in coconut oil -- yum).
I do tend to pick the tomatoes out of it. It's wierd: I have no idea why I don't want tomato pieces added to my tomato soup.
I use these to make homemade hashbrowns: Cube them, put them in just enough filtered water to cover, add a little sea salt.
Boil off the water on high heat, then add butter and fry, or dump them into a frying pan where we just made bacon and fry in a little of
the leftover grease. Proviso: I didn't eat bacon for a time. It can be a problem when your lungs are in bad shape. I am generally not
a fan of pork but I do like to very crisp bacon.
We have also found that if we add a couple of these to regular Idaho potatoes when making mashed potatoes, it has a stronger effect on us.
We tripped across this fact accidentally because there weren't enough regular potatoes to make mashed potatoes, so we tossed in a couple of small
gourmet potatoes that we had at home. I tried making mashed potatoes with the gourmet potatoes once and it was too much. But five medium to large
Idaho potatoes plus two small gourmet potatoes was wonderful. For hashbrowns, I don't peel them. I just cut out any blemishes, wash and dice. For
adding to Idaho potatoes, I did peel them.
We found these recently and have been getting both the yellow and blue chips. We really like these. We haven't had chips in the house in a long time
because of our efforts to eat healthy. We are so thrilled to find chips we feel are healthy enough for us.
My son with CF and I have both always loved cheetohs. We gave them up for a time because of the yeast and because they are junk food. We
began buying these recently. I tried them maybe a year ago and liked them but was really avoiding yeast for a long time. Because of the yeast, we
limit how many we have but in small amounts we are finding these work well for us.
